- Cell senescence is the termination of the normal cell cycle attributed to any external or internal stimulus or developmental indicators. The process triggers aging by sabotaging tissue regeneration causing loss of a cell’s power of division and growth.

- The cause of aging cell
The linear chromosomal ends are called telomeres, the protecting structures that help prevent genome manipulations. In all DNA-based organisms, telomeres are vital in cell division. As we age, telomeres shorten, ascribed to cell divisions. Sometimes due to excessive division, telomeres shorten enough to trigger a phenomenon of cell dysfunctionality or senescence. These senescent cells accumulate in the tissues of mammals as they age. They are responsible for multiple age-associated ailments attributed to tissue deterioration. On the other hand, longer telomeres equate to a healthy and longer life with younger biological age. A person of 60 years could be biologically younger because of longer telomeres protecting their cells. So telomeres attrition or shortening is the marker of aging.
Aging goes on, and all the cells eventually die except for stem cells. These cells have a remarkable self-renewal ability and are able to stimulate the enzymes called telomerase to revamp telomeres, which help them retain replication ability and the ability to differentiate in any cell that is required by the body through their property of pluripotency. Other than cell division, telomere attrition results from multiple factors, including replication, oxidative stress, and inflammation.
In a 2011 study, researchers found that telomerase is active in multiple skin cells, specifically in the epidermis (the outer layer of skin), with “increasing evidence” indicating its significant role in maintaining skin functionality and revitalization. Mutations in telomerase genes resulted in several skin anomalies.
The scientists further claimed that telomeres in skin cells are particularly vulnerable to attrition because of their high exposure to DNA-damaging agents such as UV rays and free radicals.
They concluded that increasing telomerase activity and protecting telomere length can help rejuvenate skin. Also, they may help reduce the risk of age-associated skin diseases.

Interpretation of the Clinical Trials & Studies Report

- Efficacy Report - Melanin Reduction
SKINCOMM® Actives YouthVital and Mask YouthNutri were tested in a 21-day clinical trial to assess the products by direct application on the epidermal layer of skin. The in-vitro melanin quantification was performed on 3D skin models against four variables as follows:
a) Blank (negative control)
b) Kojic Acid (positive control)
c) Vital
d) Vital+Mask
The models were studied under a microscope after 21 days of pigmentation in respective cultures, and significant lightening was observed in vital and vital+mask samples. The melanin quantification result revealed a 58.63% (p 0.001) overall reduction in melanin content by the combined effect of vital+mask, while a 37.84% (0.01) melanin reduction was observed in Vital only against negative control.
The obtained results proved the efficacy of YouthVitals and YouthNutri for flawless and bright complexioned skin.
● Efficacy Report -Collagen, Elastin
The mechanism of YouthVital action is such that it strengthens collagen and elastin by preventing atrophy. The 3D skin model was treated with 16 uL of SKINCOMM® UNICEL Actives YouthVital for 72 for pro-collagen levels determination against a negative control with no treatments. The pro-collagen was quantified using an Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kit, which mainly detects antibodies or proteins in the samples. A standard ELISA curve determines the level of a specified analyte. Serial dilutions against the known concentration of pro-collagen were made to obtain the curve. Relative and independent pro-collagen levels in cell culture were determined.
The results revealed a 54% increase in pro-collagen level compared to the control. The relative pro-collagen level of the test and control was 1.54 and 1, respectively, while the means and standard deviations were (vital: 0.56525 and control: 0.0622). The increase in pro-collagen implied that the product under trial helps keep skin hydrated, supple and dense.
An Elastin ELISA assay was performed by applying 32 uL of Elastin for 72 hours against a negative control. The results indicated a 429% elastin increase after 72 hrs compared to the negative control. The relative elastin content in the test and control were 1 and 4, obtained from graphical data of the ELISA assay. The obtained results indicated the test product’s efficiency in boosting elastin levels.
Lastly, in-house clinical trials on consumers were conducted under strict dermatological protocols. The results of the trials showed visible differences in skin condition pre and post-product, asserting the success of the test product.
